Introducing the HSM KeyLocker cloud to our customers

(22. 12. 2023) As usual, we are introducing the latest products and features from DigiCert, the world's largest CA. You can now benefit from the advantages of securely storing your Code Signing certificate in the DigiCert cloud. The service is called KeyLocker and is part of the DigiCert ONE platform; but you don't need to license anything - setting it up is fully automatic, and it is only a small additional cost compared with our Code Signing certificates.

Benefits of KeyLocker

KeyLocker is a secure cloud-based key storage that works like an HSM. It saves you the high purchase cost of an HSM and, unlike an HSM, the cloud is available everywhere so you can sign from anywhere. In addition, hash signing is fast and the signed files are not transferred over the Internet. The biggest advantage of KeyLocker is the ability to automate signing (CI/CD), which a certificate stored on a token does not allow. KeyLocker meets the FIPS 140-2 level 3 and CC EAL4+ security standards.

How to use KeyLocker

When ordering our Code Signing (OV or EV) certificate, the certificate is stored in a token – the default option. Now you can choose to store it in KeyLocker. Once authentication is complete, the certificate will be automatically issued and uploaded directly to this service, then it will be available in DigiCert's HSM cloud. Eventually, the customer will get access to it automatically.
